Ellsworth – Today, Bruce Poliquin, candidate for Maine Governor, received the endorsement of Ellsworth City Councilman Matt Boucher.  Boucher also serves as Committeeman at Large of Hancock County for the Maine Republican Party, and formerly served as the New England Regional Director for the Young Republicans.  He has been deeply involved in state and local policy, including a prominent role in repealing the tax on beer, wine, soda, and medical transactions.  As Councilman, Boucher ensures the proper use of local resources.

“We can no longer allow Augusta to mismanage state resources,” said Boucher in a statement.  “Out of control spending, high taxes, and the resulting budget shortfalls are affecting our ability to provide basic services at the local level.  Hancock County has an opportunity to grow, but the poor economic policy coming out of Augusta makes it difficult to attract new businesses.  Our next Governor must have a proven record of creating jobs and the experience dealing with the fiscal problems that burden our families and local businesses.”

“Bruce Poliquin is the only candidate in the race who has the right qualifications to address our financial challenges.  His unique combination of deep roots in Maine and background in business and finance make him the right person for the job.  He has successfully started companies and created jobs in Maine, and knows how to properly manage a budget.  I fully support Bruce’s candidacy for Governor and will dedicate my efforts to seeing that he is successful.”
