Yarmouth – Today, Bruce Poliquin, candidate for Maine Governor, received the endorsement of Peter Anastos, an owner of the Maine Course Hospitality Group and founder of Anastos and Nadeau, a housing development company. Maine Course Hospitality Group manages more than a dozen hotels and restaurants across Maine and is intricately tied to Maine’s largest industry, tourism. Anastos has been running businesses in Maine for more than two decades and was named to the Junior Achievement Maine Business Hall of Fame.
“Maine state government has proven it cannot live within its means,” said Anastos in a statement. “Unrestrained spending creates a high tax burden that makes it difficult to do business here. As a result, companies and good employees are leaving the state. We need strong, experienced leadership from our next Governor to correct this problem. Job prospects will not improve until we send a serious message to companies that Augusta can and will properly manage a budget, control spending, and lower taxes. “
“Bruce Poliquin is the right person for that job. He is from the private sector. He has owned and managed a number of businesses in Maine and knows how tough it is to succeed in this business climate. Bruce has navigated our complex regulatory system and dealt first-hand with the bureaucracy. Most importantly, Bruce knows that you can’t spend more money than you take in – a primary reason why Bruce has been successful in business. I support Bruce’s candidacy for Governor because his experience will bring good jobs to Maine and move our state toward a more prosperous future.”
