Brunswick – Today, Bruce Poliquin, candidate for Maine Governor, received the endorsement of Brian Petrovek, Managing Owner and CEO of the Portland Pirates. Petrovek has been inducted into the Junior Achievement Maine Business Hall of Fame, and just completed his term as Board Chair of the United Way of Greater Portland. Petrovek is currently Chair of Portland’s Downtown District and a Board member of the Portland Community Chamber and Maine Medical Center. Petrovek has a long illustrious career in hockey. Among the many highlights, he was an All American hockey player at Harvard College, a member of Harvard’s Athletic Hall of Fame and served as Team Leader for the United States team that won the World Cup of Hockey in 1996. He was Team Leader for the 1998 U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Team which participated in the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan.
In a statement, Petrovek lauded Bruce’s background, qualifications and professional experience.
“Bruce Poliquin is a tough, independent -minded leader with all the qualities we need in our next Governor,” said Petrovek in a statement. “He is a proven financial manager who will directly address the reasons Maine’s economy is struggling. Bruce has spent his entire professional life building businesses, creating jobs, and managing budgets. That’s the kind of experience we need in the Blaine House. He is the only candidate in the race that has the skills we need to make Maine a better place to work, own and operate a business and raise a family.”
