Brunswick – Today, Bruce Poliquin, candidate for Maine Governor, responded to evidence that Les Otten plagiarized his answers to a questionnaire on education policy. In answering a question regarding Race to the Top funding, Otten passed off the work of a scholar at the Maine Heritage Policy Center as his own.
“This shows incredibly poor judgment on the part of Mr. Otten,” said Poliquin. “Maine’s next Governor has to be someone the citizens can trust. Much of Maine’s problems are rooted in the fact that politicians and bureaucrats have not been honest with the people of Maine. On day one, the Governor must bring unimpeachable integrity to the office. I’m afraid this latest episode with Mr. Otten makes that impossible for him now.”
The author of the original work has posted a scathing response to Mr. Otten’s plagiarism here: http://www.mainepolicy.org/mhpc_blog/2010/05/the-sincerest-form-of-flattery.html
